Darksiders takes from some of gaming's best, to create an experience that is familiar, but with a look all it's own. A shame the game does nothing original.

Product Description
Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War - the first Horseman of the Apocalypse - stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. Dishonored and stripped of his powers, War must return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible. Hunted by a vengeful group of Angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vindication. But the answers he seeks will reveal a deep conspiracy in which War is just a pawn in the eternal battle between Heaven and Hell. - Become War: Unleash the apocalyptic wrath of War with devastating supernatural abilities - an extreme arsenal of angelic, demonic, and earthly weapons - and use virtually anything within your environment as a weapon.
- Epic Quest: Journey across wastelands and demon-infested dungeons of the decimated Earth, and uncover the hidden secrets to aid in your quest for vengeance and redemption.
- Battle Heaven and Hell: Destroy all who stand in your way - from war-weary angelic forces to Hell's hideous demon hordes, and confront the nefarious Destroyer, the very harbinger of Armageddon.
- Choose Your Character's Progression: Uncover powerful ancient relics, upgrade your weapons, unlock spectacular new wrath abilities, and customise your gameplay style.
- Horseman of the Apocalypse: Gain the services of Ruin, War's fiery phantom steed, blazing a trail of destruction through enemies across devastated environments.
- Graphic Novel Art Style: Joe Madureira's (X-Men, Battle Chasers, The Ultimates) epic comic book-inspired visual art style and captivating original storyline.

| Customer Reviews: Great Game But Flawed Design Towards The End July 29, 2010 Darren (UK) I really enjoyed Darksiders at the beginning.
Impressive scenery, and good story with challenging combat sequences in places, but towards the end the game looses it's edge.
It falls into one big Puzzle fest towards the end, and these puzzles are very difficult and repetitive in places.
I could not get past them without a guide, and at the later stages of the games it's one of those ones you want to end.
Perhaps with DS2 Vigil Games will have taken on board the criticism levied at the first game and will tailor the 2nd with less puzzles and more of the great exploration \ combat.
Darksiders July 29, 2010 Chrispow123 Definately a game for adventure lovers, Darksiders has some of the best features of The Legend of Zelda series mixed in with the Epic boss fights and hardcore storyline that could be compared to God of War.
This game had around 15-20 hours of gameplay depending on whether you're a completionist and would like to collect the several different types of collectibles scattered around the huge game world.
The few issues i did have with this game however are the complete over scale at which the in-game world is, meaning it takes forever just to reach the next mission even if you do use the handy warp function to get the the nearest warp point and the fact that certain Trophys take an obcene amount of time to get; but thats just nitpicking.
Overall a brilliant game that should give any player of any skill level hours of enjoyment.
Samey July 10, 2010 Beverley A. Halligan 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found this game very very very nearly BORING. I couldn't face to finish the game! When it starts off, I liked the attack combos, the way the monsters looked and the finishers. Annoyingly though, there is only one finisher for each monster which I would expect from a PS2 game but certainly not a PS3 game. Also, the attack combos are too similar and eventually it all just becomes too samey. This game will always be compared with Batman Arkham Asylum and, unfortunately, will never live up to it. Because of its storyline and all the amazing looking trailers, I would absolutely love to give the game a 5 star review. But I can't.

To be honest it's a bit of a rip off of Gods of war very similar in most respects so if you like Gods of war you will like this game.
Astonishingly good in almost everyway! June 10, 2010 N. Bennett (London, UK) Darksiders is one of those titles (of which there are very few) that just keeps on getting better, and even hard-to-please gamers like me find themselves playing for hours on end, and coming back for more. Having been a gamer since 1988, and owned a games shop, I have seen and experienced just about everything games have to offer, and frankly, titles that excite the masses usually don't do much to get my pulse racing. At best I really enjoy one game a year and Darksiders has proved to be that game! It is immense, in size, re-play value, story, visual design and in overall game design. It's dark, beautiful, clever, feels intuitive to control and navigate, it's challenging but rarely leaves you stuck for long, the creatures are varied and the bosses magnificent!
The story is fantastic and really shines through as you play through each new area, meeting new characters, many of whom are directly linked to the games plot-line and so pop-up in person or conversation at later stages of the game. The Battle system is very satisfying, allowing you to pull off combos and special attacks with ease, whilst also offering you the ability to buy and learn new powers from Vulgrim - a traveling salesman from the depths of the underworld. The power-ups come at a good pace and new abilities change the way you can scale the environments, which keeps each area of the map fresh and entertaining. The dungeons and their puzzles are incredibly clever and, for the most part, very enjoyable. The amount of game design that has gone into this new title is astounding!
Even the voice acting is fantastic and lip-syncs with the characters almost flawlessly. The artwork is excellent and the sound effects and music are also extremely good. Now the negatives - which are few, and certainly should not stop you buying this title. The game can become a little 'slow' in a few certain places. By slow, I mean: Slow to get where you want to get to if having to run back through a completed area to reach your destination (not frequent, but it does happen a couple of times). Slow, in that your progress can sometimes become a little hampered due to a very intelligent (and by intelligent, I mean tricky) puzzle design, though once you throw yourself into solving the puzzle you really enjoy it! And slow in that there are some frame rate issues at times that do slow the game a little, but nothing serious.
This really is a 9.5/10 title that I can't recommend highly enough. It's that good.
