Product Description
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition presents one of the best RPGs of all time like never before. Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created. With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges. Also included in the Game of the Year Edition are Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansion, adding new and unique quests and content to the already massive world of Oblivion. See why critics called Oblivion the Best Game of 2006. - Live Another Life in Another World - Create and play any character you can imagine, from the noble warrior to the sinister assassin to the wizened sorcerer.
- First Person Melee and Magic - An all-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity where you feel every blow.
- Radiant AI - This groundbreaking AI system gives Oblivion's characters full 24/7 schedules and the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. Non-player characters eat, sleep, and complete goals all on their own.
- New Lands to Explore - In the Shivering Isles expansion, see a world created in Sheogorath's own image, one divided between Mania and Dementia and unlike anything you've experienced in Oblivion.
- Challenging New Foes - Battle the denizens of Shivering Isles, a land filled with hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibeous Grummites, and many more.
- Begin a New Faction - The Knights of the Nine have long been disbanded. Reclaim their former glory as you traverse the far reaches of Cyrodill across an epic quest line.

| Customer Reviews: game of the year my butt, its like playing a beta test July 28, 2010 jassim 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
for a start i think its quite arrogant of the game designers to label this as "game of the year" when zelda twilight princess and gears of war won about 10 times mroe game of the year awards than this game (not sure about gears of war, but im sure twilight princess won at least 3 times as many game of the year awards as this game did) and i dont remember nintendo labelling twilight princess as "game of the year" in future copies of twilight princess, but whatever.
now to begin with, this whole game is a glitchfest, the framerate is so inconsistent and the game just suddenly slows down when it feels like, and it seems to happen mostly when im in the middle of a fight, thanks guys! not to mention when the character jumps, hes in some sort of frozen state and you'd expect much more animation in this age.
all the quests in this game revolve around "run to this side of the map to this particular character to deliver this item" what is this, the royal mail? they're just tired, repetitive fetch quests. also the overworld is absolutely massive, which is usually a good thing, but the 90% of the overworld is just grass, grass, grass and more grass, i find myself just jamming my thumb on the analog in the direction of my destination (i.e fetch doggie)
also i find the behaviouir of characters hilariously bad, you beat the hell out of them, kill all their guards, beat the hell out of their friends, just tap the x button and "i forgive you", give him another smack with your sword, tap X "i forgive you" and it goes on and on. what the heck?
all in all, stay away from this awful game
Not a patch on Fallout 3 July 28, 2010 Mrs. T. White (harwich essex) I played Fallout 3 and was hooked, fantastic game kept me entertained for..........well ever really still play it now, Im actually wondering if I will ever finish playing it. So I borrowed Oblivion which I was told by some misguided soul was even better than Fallout 3. They were wrong......It is so dull. It looks dull the characters all look like old people the scenery seems all brown and dull its just dull. Ive never really been into swords and goblins and dragons and that kind of thing so that probably didn't help, but the whole brown atmosphere gets really boring. And every thing seems so hard to kill as well, just slashing away with your sword which no matter how much you upgrade it never seems any different. I didnt complete it or any where near as at one point I ran up a hill and fell into it up to my waste and that was that. You may of noticed a key word in this rather poor review and that is DULL. Get fallout 3 but NOT the game of the year edition, unless you like resetting your console every 3 minutes due to it freezing up.

Fast delivery, perfect condition and perfectly satisfied. Great game with tonnes to do and see, you can spend ages just wondering around discovering random caves and forts, or encounter weird and wonderful creatures that are always a challenge due to them leveling up alongside you. The game keeps fresh and the addition of shivering isles and knights of the nine just enhance this further.
The best game ever! July 7, 2010 Rusty (Dorset UK) I could go on writing for ever about this game but instead of doing that i will just make the following points.
This game has to be the best ever for depth and choices you make about building your character and the way you play it.
The world in which you live is huge in its self and diverse but when you realise that the ruins/caves/buildings you can explore probably double the amount of available territory then you begin to realise this truly is a massive game!
The graphics are great/the gameplay is brilliant, accuracy of weapons sword/arrows/magic is spot on!
This is without doubt THE must buy game and represents fantastic value for my money.
I doubt this game can be equalled but i would like to think that there is a game developer out there looking to surpass this game but i doubt it is possible.
Worst RPG ever? Or Worst Game Ever? July 3, 2010 Holiness 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
As the title suggests; I am having problems deciding if it is the worst RPG ever or just the worst game ever. Why? Well firstly; the RPG system is utterly useless and pathetic. Leveling up is pointless and you can finish the game at lv 1, also enemies level up with you and this annoying, this means that no matter how high your strength is or health; enemies will always have enough health to protect them against your attacks so you can never feel like some divine being killing all with one hit and enemies have enough strength to be able to harm you and knock you over even though you are wearing the best armor in the world and you are a master at acrobatics (which apparently prevents people from knocking you over which is a lie), so even if you do play by the rules in this game, you still don't feel like you've increased in skill or anything which is what a RPG is about! You are supposed to feel as though you have increased in strength, RPGs aren't about skill, they are about leveling up to become better. Considering bethesda themselves call this game a RPG, you would think it would be an actual RPG and it is not, so they lied. If it is a RPG, then it must be the worst RPG ever to have been made.
Why did I say this could be the worst game ever? Well since the RPG elements are very bad/minor, then one could consider this a normal adventure game..yet the adventuring is bad too. Your character runs slow, a jump from 3 ft will kill him/her and even a horse is slow and wolves normally end up getting their heads stuck in your horse. Nearly every minute there is a wolf chasing after you or a bandit and when you get of off the horse they start attacking your horse and not you! Other times when you lose the wolf, the combat music still plays and you can't rest, fast travel or wait and this is bad if your character is a vampire and it is daytime and you really need to wait in a cave till it is night. Then after 1 hour, the wolf finally enters the cave (how it tracks you down is unknown to me) and you kill it and can finally continue with the game. Also PS3 users have reported that the vampire part is a big problem since the cure quest for it is bugged and can not be finished and guess what? Bethesda ignored everyones complaints and never released a patch for them. For the PC and Xbox 360 version there are also game killing bugs which have not been patched, one being if you open the Blade's fortress gates before you get Martin there, you can not progress through the story and the game crashes. One may say that in a game as big as this, it is reasonable to expect bugs, then how come in other games with massive worlds, there are no bugs?
The world is actually very small and Two Worlds world is much bigger. Do you remember Morrowind? Oblivion's predecessor? That had a much bigger world with more quests and even 8 sets or armor while Oblivion has 5 sets of armor. Looking at bethesda's next game; Fallout 3 we see there are only 2 sets of armor (Helmet, Torso) and the world is much much smaller and looks the same everywhere showing that it is rushed and everyone has thankfully noticed that it is built on the same dated engine as Oblivion.
Combat sucks and is just a bit better than Morrowind's combat. But when you are staggering every second after taking a hit, the combat is really annoying.
The story seems to be copied from Arx Fatalis's story which has you fighting against a cult as well, and also Dagon is a pagan god from The Bible, so it seems that everything in Oblivion's story has been copied from other things. The grey fox poster? Yeah, saw that in Thief 3!
Oblivion is either a really really crap game, or a really really terrible failed wannabe RPG. Save your money for Two Worlds II which allows you to open your own shop and offers complete freedom, or save your money for Gothic 4. Either way, Oblivion is not the only free roamer out there and it isn't the only first person medieval game out there, many many more exist and they all are Gems unlike this. Want a decent RPG with great NPC interaction? Get Dragon Age but avoid this garbage.
P.S
I don't view comments.
