 The novelty of GTA in the Wild West wares off after a while... July 29, 2010

When you first start playing this game it seems epic...well it is; you can run or ride in any direction, the map's huge and well detailed. Despite this you can only shoot a few locals and then get shot to peaces by the local police so many times before it gets boring; it just isn't as fun as police chases on GTA.
The main storyline is strong and kept me occupied for a week (playing av. 2 hours a day), but after that it's just really boring. There's side quests and other ways to make money but very little to spend the money on. As for online, it was a really good idea to have the free roam but the games' ruined by not having a lobby, the massive loading times (you have to load the free roam map and then load a match if you want to play one), and the targeting system is either too easy when it's set to auto-lock or too hard shooting without lock in 3rd person.
If you want a game with a strong storyline to play through and lots of gun fights then this will be good for you, but if you were attracted by the idea of free-roam and customization then prepare to be disappointed.

The game its self is sound - the graphics are good and the free roam and single player are very interesting for a short period of time. But once you have completed the single player (which took ages) I become very quickly bored with the free roam.
When I got the game the online worked perfectly, but several weeks ago this all changed and I was the only person on free roam with maybe 1 or 2 people joining me after about an hour and then quickly leaving again. There is nothing wrong with my ps3 and after researching this on the internet I have found that this is a regular occurrence and so rockstar need to deal with this.
This game will not keep you amused for long but is fun whilst you are in this short phase.
Overall I like this game and think that once the online has been sorted out it will be a sound and fun game.

There is only one way to describe this game; awe-inspiring.
As a fan of the spaghetti westerns, as soon as I heard about this game, I wanted it. I was not disappointed.
The storyline is engaging and emotional, and the gameplay is easy to grasp, resulting in a great game. Red Dead Redemption doesn't end when you have completed the storyline, however, you can then ride freely around the west, shooting bandits, saving lives, and hunting the many animals that roam the plains.
All in all, if you like Westerns, buy this game.

It's enough to make you want to start chewing baccy and eating jerky. The game offers a wide understanding of the Wild West, as the horses are very well animated and feel real to control. The storyline drags you in the shoes of John Marston, as it delievers a great feel of the Old West. The Wild West gives you an epic experience of the battle to hunt down your gang members, and the fight for survival across the expanses of the American West and blood-stained Mexico. The multiplayer expand's the Wild West experience and makes it even more spectacular to play, this game is crowned a jewel of gaming history.

I'll keep this brief, this is the closest you'll ever get to being Clint Eastwood in your own cowboy movie. The attention to detail is second to none. This game is immense and visually stunning, and it's sheer perfection in my book. I take my Stetson off to Rockstar for this one.
