| Customer Reviews: Dont let the trailer decieve you... July 20, 2010 Pagey 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well the case and the disc says dragon age origins, but i must have a completely different game. it really is the worst game i have ever been on in my life, the graphics are shocking, they take me back to some PS1 games.
but by far the worst thing about this game is the gameplay, at the beginning of the game you have to fight some giant rats in the pantry, which just look like brown blobs on the floor, so you get your sword out and attck using X, bearing in mind these rats are a foot tall you are swinging your sword at shoulder height and the rats, 4 feet below your swing magically die. i mean call me a perfectionist but is that what you expect from a game from 2009?? i certainly dont. and every time you swing your sword you repeat the same lines over and over again, "well this should be easy enough" is perhaps the most annoying.
i admit i have only played this game for 30 minutes but that is all it took to make me want to sell it.
so overall graphics, gameplay, voiceovers and story ( a rip off of lord of the rings) are absolutely shocking, it really is the worst game i have ever been on, and considering this game is more recent that uncharted 2, and GOW it really does put it into perspective.
Engaging game June 17, 2010 D. Ouddane (UK) I had my doubts about this at first ,although its a Bioware game however when i played it, i havnt been able to stop. I love my RPGs like Summoner,Fable,Oblivion,Final fantasy this game is now up on that pedestool with them. It is a large game, theres alot to do. I play MW2 most of the time online but when i turn the router off im straight on Dragon age :)
If you like RPG mixed with action, then go for it! June 10, 2010 Livar Erga (Norway) I loved it. It's been a while since I played anything at all, 'cause I've had kind of a break from video games the last couple of years. That changed with my PS3 arriving some months ago, and so did my view of todays games after playing through this little jewel. It's fairly nice to look at and not too hard to learn, yet difficult to master, and all in all just good fun. Getting to know your characters, making important decisions and fighting your way through dragons, skeletons and werewolves in an epic fantasy world. It doesn't get much better, if you ask me. Took me around 70 hours, and I was very thorough!
Beware of 3.30 May 30, 2010 J. Jackson (Nottinghamshire (Licoln Green?)) Okay I absolutly love this game or at least i did untill Sony released firmware 3.30. Now the game freezes up in random locations every 10-15 minutes. It got to the point where I was so fed up with restarting my machine and reloading my game, I just shelved the thing and treated myself to final fantasy XIII. Bioware are aparently aware off the problem and are working to provide a patch to solve Sony's FUBAR. But as to how long untill a patch is released, who knows?
So if you haven't updated your PS3 to 3.30 yet, don't! Buy this game and consider it money well spent. But If you have updated, I'd save myself some money and lots of frustration and wait untill bioware release a patch.
Superb game - but the load times can drive you crazy May 24, 2010 DougP (UK) This game absorbed my time for weeks. Storyline, dialogue and world building are superb, sound and graphics good although not mind-blowing. The gameplay is deep and interesting. Some genuinely scary and disturbing moments (the blood is a little over the top - I found the "persistent gore" a bit silly and turned it off). It might be a little overwhelming for someone who isn't familiar with RPG conventions. I barely scratched the surface on my first play through. Difficulty is easily adjustable, even on the fly, which I needed - I found "Normal" difficulty challenging, but I'm not a serious gamer.
The best thing is the way that the choices you make throughout the game seem to have a genuine effect on the world around you - events and dialogue reflect the actions you took earlier. And the game loves to force you to make choices. Sometimes you get to "take a third option", others you will have to pick your lesser evil.
This would have been five stars except for one nasty combination. The game lays a lot of stress on tactics - the correct positioning of your players, use of ranged weapons etc. It then has a nasty habit of dumping you into ambushes straight from the world map or moving your players into a small clump in the centre of a large cavern during a cutscene and then starting a boss fight...
That might be OK, but if you die, you spend a _long_ time watching the load screen. Particularly if your last save was the far side of one of the game's fairly frequent scene changes. Each of which triggers another load. Some of the text that comes up to read during the load is fun - the first time you see it.
